Along with our studies, this academic year we
worked on something called Personal Project. The Personal Project is done by
the students of Grade 8 with the help of an assigned supervisor, in which we
decide a goal and then make the product. We can choose anything we wish to
make. Mostly it is related to our passion or career choice. The process was
long and the output in the end was worth all the time spent into making the
product.
For me, I chose to make a hoverboard and I spent
three months into making the actual product. The Personal Project wasn't only
about the final outcome but it was also about the process of making it. We had
to document all the sources we used in the process.
We had to make a Process Journal in which we
record everything and anything that we do in order to develop the project. It
is important for us to maintain a process journal to make our work more
legitimate in case anyone is cheating. We also had to do a report in which we
summarize what we have done in the past 6 months.
Overall, it was a great experience; we all
developed our ATL Skills. ATL skills are known as Approaches to Learning. There
are several Skills like research, communication, organizational and social
skills.
On the 27th of April, the overwhelming process
came to an end, as each one of us showed and displayed the work we had done in
the past 6 months.
