The Aabhar Utsav is a
way to give back to the support staff. It is an interact club initiative that
looks at helping the people who help us every day, by conducting a collection
drive during February and March and then sell all that has been collected at
affordable prices to the support staff. The entire school participated and
several people provided clothes, books, toys and other items for the
initiative. The teen ambassadors encouraged the donation ahead within our grade
and made sure that donations were going through. On the 7th of April, the
actual event was conducted.
Clothes, bags, books
and toys were sold for Rs. 10 to 30 and in a mad rush we were folding,
unfolding, packing, searching and selling clothes. The neat stacks in the
beginning were slowly diminishing and the clothes rapidly selling. I personally
enjoyed collecting the tickets and putting them through the metal bars as I
have somehow always envied the people with that opportunity.
We assorted duties and
hunted for the requested clothes, and no matter how many we sold and packaged
there would always be too many. Our skills in folding clothes certainly
developed that day.
It was an extremely
enjoyable event, and it was great to be able to help the people who help us on
a daily basis. I really enjoyed being a part of this initiative and hope that
the support staff did too.
Your greatness is not what you
have, it’s what you give”. This seemingly short but extremely powerful
quotation is not merely a cliche but blows the cobwebs away. On Friday
7th April, the whole school including primary and secondary children participated
in a school-based event called ‘Aabhar Utsav’. This year the Utsav was just a
try, but as we got to know that it turned out to be a huge success. The
authorities are wanting to give it another try next year. Aabhar Utsav is a
small event in our school where we keep necessary products for a person to
spend at cheap prices. Basically, we donated stuff to the school which was sold
to the support staff at cheap and extremely affordable prices. The Aabhar Utsav
was an event for our support staff. The popular products which were sold were:
Clothes and Toys. These products were finished in almost an hour. The event had
pantomime acts and Nukkad Nataks. These acts were to spread awareness on how
much our support staff helps us around with our daily duties. The staff also
enjoyed their time as they had refreshments and were called upon to dance on
the stage. In the end, everyone appreciated the event and it was called as a
great and loving start.
